About SMT Avigail Cohen
Avigail Cohen is a specialized master trainer in Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® and the owner of Gyrotonic Room Studio in Tel Aviv.
Avigail has been involved in movement training and physical therapy for the last 25 years. She began her career as a dancer and musician, was one of the first in Israel to be qualified to teachPilates through the Physical Mind Institute and taught in Israel and abroad, teaching clients and certifying trainers. In 2004 she met the Gyrotonic® and Gyrokinesis® method, learned and continues to learn from the best masters in the world and the inventor of the method himself – Julio Horvath, specializing and deepening in the rehabilitative and therapeutic aspects of the system.
The content of her teaching draws from different worlds of knowledge – dance, the world of myofascia, deep tissue massage, anatomy and kinesiology and the study of the energetic body. Throughout her many years of work, she has taught countless trainees in the method, mentored and certified instructors, created and taught workshops on various topics and has created a deeply invested community of professionals in Israel.
Breathing Course Intensive | For Certified Gyrokinesis® Teachers
20th - 22nd June 2025
This unique course takes its participants through an indepth practice of their consciousness and the ability to focus it through movement and breath. The 3 days of the course are made up of two parts each: the first part is a dynamic movement practice that prepares the physical body for the second part of the day which is a meditational journey of different breathing and voice patterns accompanied by music created by Julio Horvath especially for these sequences.
The course is credited as a license renewal course for Gyrokinesis instructors.

Gyrokinesis® magic: Decompression | OPEN FOR ALL
24th June 2025 | 10:00 - 17:00 (Incl. 1h break)
The age we are living in is one that demands much from our human system – our consciousness and attention are in constant over use and our body is pulled away from its inherent design based on movement and the relationship with nature. These factors lead us to experience more and more stress in our daily life, growing compression that reflects through our emotional state as well as in our body. The Gyrotonic® & Gyrokinesis® systems excel in releasing blockages which allow to rediscover different expressions of movement – be it the movement of energetical flow, cardio vascular flow, neurological communication, Musculo-skeletal efficiency. One of its main tools in achieving movement is creating structural decompression. In this 1 day workshop we will zoom into this aspect of the practice of Gyrokinesis®: How to create a sense of Decompression through the execution of the exercises, or in other words: Looking at the method as a decompressive tool. The workshop will consist of both fluid practice of familiar Gyrokinesis® sequences, as well as discourse and observation on different aspects and ways of moving through and with the exercises. During the workshop, we will each learn how to adapt our practice to suit our individual needs and capacities.
Throughout the 5 hours we will take pauses for integration, discussions and hands on practice. *the exact content of the workshop might change slightly in accordance to the participants and their needs.

Gyrotonic® workshop - Getting Personal | For Certified trainers and apprentices
25th June 2025 | 10:00 - 14:30 (Incl. 30 minutes break)
The intention of this workshop is to support Gyrotonic® & Gyrokinesis® trainers and apprentices in their journey to acquire a deeper understanding of the Gyrotonic® system and how to use it to improve their student’s Physical, emotional and Energetical state. This 4 hour workshop is all about the person in front of you: how to apply the principles learned in the foundation course to the specific structure in front of you? To the personality in front of you? How can you help release individual Energetical blockages and ease different symptoms of pain? Answering these questions will consist of the following:
1. Revisiting basic principles of the system 2. Bringing a new perspective to these principles and using them as diagnostic tools
3. Applying the previous directly to the different structures of the participants 4. Applying into dynamic movement as opposed to a postural proprioception – going through different Level 1 exercise families 5. Discussing how to construct a class based on the information that was gathered and how to attain the desired goals
