Practicing (soft(ly)) resistance the language of Body that Stands
The workshop will follow the performance of the piece ‘Body that Stands’ in E-werk Freiburg. It will share the bits of the research behind it and the language developed through it’s creation process.
In this workshop, we will work with the question: How can we practice resistance? And do we gain out of it? Together, we will invent and construct physical conditions that serve as a field for ‘working-out’ bodily resistance. We will observe the patterns, tactics, and movement qualities that arise when committing to an environment in which opposing is allowed and agreed upon. Paying attention to the imprints left in the body as a consequence of this practice, we research the specific language these corporal behaviors produce. The session places particular focus on the relationship between resistance, persistence, and endurance and how it is reflected both on a singular body, and within relationships.
The workshop will include improvisation exercising on one’s own as well as scores and physical ‘games’ in partners and groups. Join us to deepen your relation with your own physical & mental power to oppose, support and break-through borders all together.
The workshop features a Gaga/ Dancers class and a movement research session.
