Smadar Goshen is a dance maker, a performer and a trainer. She completed her Bachelors degree in dance and her Masters degree in choreography at the Jerusalem Academy for Music and Dance (JAMD). Born in Israel, she had shifted her professional base to Stuttgart since 2019.

Smadar is a certified Gaga teacher as well as GYROTONIC & GYROKINESIS® Trainer and Pre-Trainer. Her extensive knowledge about the moving body is an important part of her work with both, professional and non-professional movers.

In the current yearbook of the magazine Tanz, she was honored as one of the 10 most promising pioneer dance makers in Germany.

She created her first choreography „Urbania” in 2011 at the invitation of the Shades in Dance Festival at the Suzanne Dellal Centre, Tel Aviv. Since then, she has been choreographing, producing and performing her pieces around the world on various platforms such as Machol Acher Festival at Suzanne Dellal Centre (Tel-Aviv, Israel), Machol Shalem Dance Festival (Jerusalem, Israel), Dance Waves Festival (Nicosia, Cyprus), Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition (China), the residency program of Derida Dance Center in Sofia (Bulgaria) and more.

In 2020, she choreographed for the festival DIE IRRITIERTE STADT in Stuttgart, Germany, and premiered her full-length duet „Peninsula Flora”.

A year later she created a solo for the renowned dance company Gauthier Dance as part of „The Dying Swans Project“, another solo for the International Dance-Theater Solo Competition Stuttgart, a short creation for the ChoreoLab project of Tanz Labor Ulm and two independent full evening pieces which she choreographed and directed artistically – „Hoomans” and „Rocking Women like Rock”.

In 2022, her piece for six dancers GRAND NOIR premiered at Theaterhaus Stuttgart. Her solo Lucy in the Sky, which was created the same year, premiered in June 2022. She is currently continuously developing a second solo performed by her, inspired by the research from Lucy, in this occasion dealing with chaos and layered reality. Her pieces bridge the distance between the audience and the performers. They create connections and an inspiring space for communication of various kinds.

Her latest production, the full-length solo dance piece Ken | כן, premiered at Theater FITZ on January 26, 2024.

In the current yearbook of the magazine tanz, Smadar Goshen was honored as one of the 10 most promising dance pioneers.
